A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ecc-netitalia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/files\/pubblicazioni\/03.ECC-Net_Timesharing_FINAL_15122015.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new report<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ecc-netitalia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/files\/pubblicazioni\/Timesharing_Top-Tips_EN_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tips for consumers<\/a>\u00a0from the European\u00a0Consumer Centres Network (ECC-Net) can help you find your way through the\u00a0timeshare maze.<\/p>\n<p>Existing EU rules protect\u00a0you when you buy timeshare or long-term holiday products but it is better to be\u00a0well informed to make sure the people selling them obey the law. In the last\u00a0few years a whole new range of products and sales techniques have emerged that\u00a0have rendered choice of formulas even more complex.<\/p>\n<p>This is why the ECC-Net\u00a0can be of help and assistance. It performed a study to understand the major\u00a0traps so as to raise awareness among consumers, authorities and other\u00a0stakeholders of problems related to timeshare-like products. This led to a\u00a0report and a list of tips, which you can see on the website of each ECC in your\u00a0national language.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Four tips to keep you out of\u00a0trouble:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 <strong>Don\u2019t sign anything unless you are sure you want to buy<\/strong>. You don&#8217;t need to\u00a0sign contracts immediately and the seller must give you all necessary information\u00a0in good time before you sign.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 <strong>If you have second thoughts<\/strong>, you have 14 days from signing a\u00a0contract in which to cancel it free of charge.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7<strong> If something looks too good to be true, it probably is<\/strong>. A typical case\u00a0involves an offer of a scratch card at a resort which shows that you&#8217;ve won a\u00a0prize. To get it, you have to go to a nearby office to hear a short\u00a0presentation. This turns into a lengthy sales pitch during which you&#8217;re\u00a0pressured to sign a contract without having chance to think about the terms and\u00a0conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 <strong>Read first, pay later<\/strong>.You cannot be asked to pay a deposit upfront.
