Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Guide
Help and advice for consumers in Europe
The 25th Winter Olympic Games will take place in Italy from 6 to 22 February 2026, followed by the Winter Paralympic Games from 6 to 15 March 2026. The event will span a wide area of the country, with competitions hosted in Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo and other key Alpine locations, including Bormio, Livigno, Val di Fiemme and Anterselva/Antholz. This multi-venue format brings together major cities and mountain regions, offering an experience that combines winter sports with Italy’s diverse landscapes.
Milano Cortina 2026 holds special significance in Olympic history. It will be the first time Milan hosts the Winter Olympic Games, while Cortina d’Ampezzo returns to the Olympic stage seventy years after the 1956 Games. The sports programme will also feature ski mountaineering, making its Olympic debut and reflecting the evolving nature of the Games and the introduction of new disciplines.
Competitions and ceremonies will be spread across several venues. Milan will host the Opening Ceremony on 6 February 2026 at the San Siro Stadium, as well as events in figure skating, short track, speed skating and ice hockey. Cortina d’Ampezzo will stage alpine skiing, curling, snowboarding and para snowboard competitions. Other Alpine venues will host specific disciplines: Bormio for men’s alpine skiing, Livigno for freestyle skiing and snowboarding, Val di Fiemme for cross-country skiing, Nordic combined and biathlon, and Anterselva/Antholz for biathlon. Verona will host the Closing Ceremony of the Olympic Games and the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games.
