Commission and car rental companies discuss consumer complaints

Help and advice for consumers in Europe

The transport sector is one of the main areas of cross-border complaints made by European consumers. More specifically, problems in car rental services feature high on the list.
This is why the European Commission – alongside the European Consumer Centres and national enforcers from the Consumer Protection Cooperation network – meet today with the trade association Leaseurope and major EU wide car rental companies.
The aim of the meeting is to identify main issues affecting consumers across Europe when renting a car and discuss how to address them, for example by improving pre-contractual information, reviewing standard terms and conditions, or practices which may be misleading.
