Rome Airport ClosedAfter a fire broke out during the midnight in Terminal 3, the Rome’s main Fiumicino airport will remain closed untill  2.00 p.m. and only some inter-continental flights had been allowed to land.

Air carriers and Enac ( the Italian Civil aviation Authority) which is following the emergency, invite passengers not to go to the airport and advise them to contact the air carriers’ call center to reschedule their flights. The resumption of the operations will be gradual and may  take “a few days”  expecially with regard the Terminal 3 .

The fire has to be considered extraordinary circumstance and the passengers are not entitled to be compensated. However, air carriers have to provide assistance and the passengers affected  by the disruption have the right to choose between reimbursement of the ticket price within 7 days or re-routing on an alternative flight as soon as possible or at a later date if seats are available.
